Arne Jacobsen

Arne Jacobsen (Danish, 1902-1971) is a household name with good reason: many of his designs have lasted in popularity across the decades and are classic, in continuous production, voraciously collected and still fresh. 2008 saw the selling out of the 50th anniversary edition of the Egg chair designed for Fritz Hansen. As architect for the Royal Copenhagen SAS hotel 1958-60, Jacobsen entirely furnished and equipped the property with his designs. The depth of involvement of this designer is further illustrated by the curved glass Banker's clock designed for the Danish National Bank 1961-67. Jacobsen's style was individual and captured the Scandinavian, particularly the Danish characteristics well: use of new technologies, new materials, regard for ergonomics and purpose as well as an appreciation for natural materials, all of which gave the region the strong design reputation it still enjoys today.

AMEICO carries AJ wall clocks made by Rosendahl, AJ watches by Pierre Junod, the AJ Royal, Rodovre and Aarhus Lamps by Santa & Cole, as well as the Hotel Royal Collection by Unique Copenhagen.
