Teracrea for
Greenery in Architecture
Teracrea was
set up in 2002 based on an idea of the two founder partners, Mauro Canfori and
Emanuela Destro, with the objective of creating a family of products designed to
introduce greenery into internal architecture and offer new solutions to
traditional pots for outdoor plants. In light of this, a number of
important designers were asked to interpret and explore the concept of "greenery
as a means of organizing the space around it".
From these
meetings a series of interesting proposals arose which envisage the use of
conventional materials, such as terracotta and more innovative ones such as
fiberclay, a material with the same aesthetic features but which is much
lighter, that were met with enthusiasm in their respective areas of interest.
At the
beginning of 2006, Teracrea joined the DEROMA GROUP, a world leader in the
production of vases and pots for flowers and plants, with the objective of
proposing and developing the concept of design in the plant and greenery
industry, using a wide range of both traditional and researched materials.
As a result,
a new, exciting co-operation was initiated which led to the fine-tuning of
existing products or the development of new solutions to define interior and
outdoor areas, making spaces more attractive and more functional.
As well as
the well-known projects by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Fernando and Humberto
Campana, rotational projects by Konstantin Grcic and Marco Ferreri were also set
up. Alternative materials were proposed for the products of Fabio Bortolani and
Sebastian Bergne and a new project by Edouard Francois was developed.
